Exactly 100 years to the day since this infamous battle began, Terry's Tours were at Thiepval along with 10,000 other people to witness an official commemoration. It was attended by His Royal Highness The Princes of Wales and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall (Charles and Camilla), Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate), His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and the Political Leaders of Ireland, France, UK and Germany. Over 2 hours, we listened and watched as actors, poets, soldiers, veterans and relatives of the fallen recited poems, played music and read accounts from the battle itself. As the rain began to fall, the actor Charles Dance read Siegfried Sassoon's poem "Aftermath". For me, it was the highlight of the day:
